Silk failing to click Run Dialog

I am using Silk 5.0.3.2 on W2K Machines. My program clicks the Start button then it clicks the Run Menu , enters the name of the Application in the Run Dialog's Combo Box and Clicks OK to start the Application.

This has been working fine for 1 month. But lately I see that at times after I run the same application a number of times on some machines the Silk Script fails and complains that it cannot find the Combo Box.
Same script was running on the same machine for quite sometime and now it fails.
Its very flakey and I am unable to debug the problem.

Any hints and tips in this direction would be really helpful. I am gone crazy solving this

Re: Silk failing to click Run Dialog

If u r using the keyboard that having the start menu button try using this. Generally it should work if worked previously. I have not faced any situation like this except u change something like updating the patch or something for OS.

If you know the application executable name.... why can't you use SYS_Execute instead ? That can achieve the same result.

I hope this will help !

Re: Silk failing to click Run Dialog

The following is some code we have to use the run dialog. I recommend using the run dialog as a last resort. Note: there is a bug in Silk, if connecting to a remote machine of different OS, you will not be able to interact with the Start button.

Someone mentioned using SYS_Execute(). I don't think this will work. SYS_Execute() will wait for the command to finish before moving on to the next line of code. This won't happen if the app is running.

may not be the cleanest code, don't know why we have sleeps in there, but you get the idea.

Re: Silk failing to click Run Dialog

    Thanks all for the advice.

The problem is that if the Windows Task Manager is open the code fails and if I close the Task Manager it works perfectly OK. I am not sure of this behaviour but I have consistently seen this

Re: Silk failing to click Run Dialog

I think by default Task Manager is "always on top", SilkTest will not function properly if it can't set windows active first...

Good news is that you can unselect this option in TaskManager options.
