SilkTest is seeing the browser and not objects in it. Sounds like your extension isn't being loaded properly.

Make sure that you have the right extension loaded for the browser you're working with.

    Dave

I check the Extension on SilkTest -> options->extension and Extensions in programs both has
    Primary Extension Loaded IE DOM.

Actually I was having the Window Declartion

    [-] window BrowserChild TCom
tag "Tca: Learn More. Surf less."
    [ ]
    [ ] parent Browser
    [ ]
    [ ] const sLocation = sLoc

But now i try to see the Window i am getting this
    window DialogBox SurfLess
tag "Surf less. - Microsoft Internet Explorer"
    [-] CustomWin WorkerW1
[ ] msw tag "Tca: Learn More. Surf less. - Microsoft Internet Explorer"
    [-] CustomWin ReBarWindow321
[ ] msw tag "Tca: Learn More. Surf less. - Microsoft Internet Explorer"

If, when recording window declarations, you're seeing the browser (DialogBox("XXX-Microsoft...") rather than the page, the extension isn't loaded or isn't loaded properly. Right click on the Agent in the TaskBar, choose Extensions from the PopupWindow and then choose "Details". You should have something like this in the subsequent DialogBox:
    "iexplore.exe(7d4): domex.dll Loaded"

If that's not there, the extension isn't loaded. Then again, it may be loaded, just not properly. If that's the case, try this:

    <UL TYPE=SQUARE>
    <LI>Close the browser.
    <LI>Close the Agent.
    <LI>Re-launch the browser
<LI>Re-launch Record Window Declarations (this will restart the Agent)[/list]

Alternately, shut down everything and restart the process. (The Microsoft solution to everything.)

Re: Why SilkTest 5.5 see the Window has BrowserChild or DialogBox ?

    Dave

    When i check Agent extensions I don't have this "iexplore.exe(7d4): domex.dll Loaded"

    I did this

    Close the browser.

    Close the Agent.

    Re-launch the browser

Re-launch Record Window Declarations (this will restart the Agent)

But still i am able to see as DialogBox (Actually Browser child)

Re: Why SilkTest 5.5 see the Window has BrowserChild or DialogBox ?

This exact same failure has now appeared in Silk 6.0. Testing against IE5.5. have some BrowserChild Windows that pop up when Footer links are clicked. Silk is seeing them now as type "DialogBox"

Did an "upgrade" install, letting 6.0 upgrade the 6.0 beta III install. The beta was working fine.

I've disabled everthing in extensions except IE5_DOM. Agent reports that iexplore.exe(420): domex.dll Loaded.

Any idea why the browser child is being seen as a DialogBox?

Re: Why SilkTest 5.5 see the Window has BrowserChild or DialogBox ?

I guess you saw BrowserPage before, but now it is DialogBox.BrowserChild?

For popup window without menu, I would say it should be DialogBox.BrowserChild instead of BrowserPage.

Browserpage is defined as first BrowserChild instance inside Browser. Browser is a Mainwin which must have menu. For the popup window, it doesn't have menu, then it should be mapped to MainWin. Furthermore, the inside BrowserChild is not a BrowserPage.

Re: Why SilkTest 5.5 see the Window has BrowserChild or DialogBox ?

I think I have the similar problem too :
We have Silk 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 and everything was working fine.
IE Browsers were recognized as "BrowserPage.BrowserChild" and suddenly on several of our machines (any silk versions), silk started to see "DialogBox.CustomWin" instead.
As indicated by David Reed, the domex.dll cannot load. Even reboot doesn't work.

Is there any way to trace silk and see what's going wrong ?

    Thanks
