    Why are these Java Window Declarations Different?

    I wrote some testcases on pc1 using that pc's window declarations. I then moved the testcases to another similarly equipped pc2 and tried to run them there. They did not work. I then checked the window decs on pc2 and they were different. Here's some info on the pcs:

    pc1
    ===
    Windows 2000
    silktest5.5 + both updates
    IE5.5
    CLASSPTH: <silkDir>\javaex\SilkTest_Java2.jar
    jre 1.3.1

    pc2
    ===
    Windows 2000
    silktest5.5 + both updates
    IE5.5
    CLASSPTH: <silkDir>\javaex\SilkTest_Java2.jar
    jre 1.3.1

    pc1 Window Declaration sample
    =============================
    [ ] //my pc window declaration
    [-] window JavaMainWin CPLEditorAccount14082031
    [ ] tag "CPL Editor - Account (14082031011)"
    [+] JavaJFCListBox JavaxSwingJList1
    [ ] tag "#1"
    [+] JavaJFCPushButton N11
    [ ] tag ">>>[1]"
    [+] JavaJFCPushButton N12
    [ ] tag "<<<[1]"
    [+] JavaJFCListBox JavaxSwingJList2
    [ ] tag "#2"

    pc2 Window Declarations Sample
    ==============================
    [ ]
    [-] window JavaMainWin CPLEditorAccount14082031
    [ ] tag "CPL Editor - Account (14082031011)"
    [+] CustomWin JavaxSwingJRootPane
    [ ] msw tag "[javax.swing.JRootPane]$javax.swing.JRootPane"
    [+] CustomWin NullGlassPane
    [ ] msw tag "[javax.swing.JPanel]$null.glassPane"
    [+] CustomWin NullLayeredPane

    My testcases work fine on pc1. Obviously the SilkTest_Java2.jar file sees the applet differently on pc2 but i cant seem to find any other java settings related to silktest that could be configured differently on pc2.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    robert

    Verify the the classpaths are identical. Not only is the correct jar file important but sometimes the order of the appearance makes a difference.

    Another idea is to check the configuration of the agent extensions prior to running SilkTest. Make sure the settings in the Extension Enabler on both machines are the same. Also, when you launch SilkTest go to Option/Extensions and check that these setting are also properly set.

    One other thing you can do is check the Java settings using the JavaEx\Status\Status.html file. This will tell you if there is a conflict in the versions of Java being used and the jar file.

    Good luck.

    Very strange.. I decided to uninstall SilkTest on PC2. I then re-installed it, added the two patches, and tried it again... IT WORKED! I cant really explain it, but I guess as long as it works that's all that matters...
