I was just wondering if anyone out there has a list of Basic user
interview questions with answers for SilkTest and/or SilkPreformer.
I am wanting to ask a position candidite some automation questions
related to Silk, and am looking for a colation between Silk and
I am wanting to judge (review) this persons skill level with this
automated tool set, however My exp. is with Mercury tools and I don't
know how closely they are related as to thier functionality, if at
all other than a C like language.
The reason for this is that we have been burned with people that
listed automated tools on their resume and as it turns out the
company they worked for just had the tool and they had never reall

I might ask that person about how they would set up a testscript. The answer should include recording window declarations, setting up the testcase, mapping unknown classes, etc. Some more advanced questions might involve the extension kit, class extensions, custom classes, the "@" operator, etc.
You might also ask what particular technical challenges they've been faced with in doing automation, and how they solved that particular challenge with SilkTest. That can lead to some very interesting discussion of some of the more esoteric points of SilkTest.
I agree with the person above, and after you ask, and they say they havent faced any roadblocks or problems, they PROBABLY have not work too long with SILK. You'll know from their response of either a laugh and/or a loud scream that demonstrates their frustration level. All SILK users MUST have a frustration level--it's a matter of HOW they deal and FIX their frustration.
1)Rate your silktest skill level 1 to 5(guru)?
2)What have done using Silk?
3)What road blocks did you have while using Silk? If no road block ask them if they know any.
4)Where would you look for help, if you had a problem using Silk???
BTW everyone that uses Silk know about this forum one way or another, because there is a link from Segue to here. Plus Silk's help manual just sux, there no way to solve all the problems while staring at the help document.
More vague is the answer less they know about Silk.
