    Segue SILK 5.0 to Mercury\'s WinRunner 6.0

    User Didier Allaire (DAllaire@JetForm.com) posted:

    Hello,

I do not see any importing features in SILK. It looks like all that can be
handles is SILK code. Does anyone know of importing tools for either Segue
SILK 5.0 to Mercury's WinRunner 6.0 or the other way around?

    Happy scripting.

Wishful Thinking but, the feature you are looking for does not exist.

Why not playback with one tool while recording with the other?

    Brilliant Idea John.

Have you actually done this ?

We are evaluating a move from Silk To Winrunner, and the conversion of our existing testware is the only real problem that I still haven't solved.

The sole problem of mother earth!! Everyday you dig in the same hole with silk, so that you sink so low you can't get out of that hole. One day the cost of getting out of that is so high that you abandon all hopes of getting out of this hole

That's where you need to start separating testcase from the tool.

    Hi Rob,

No I haven't actually tried it. I think that the way forward would be to use a minimum number of declarations (following John Green's methodology) - perhaps even just using the generic BrowserPage.

GodKnows! Are you advocating key word driven testing?

    John.
