    File Version info

And I already have a new problem. The task I am working on right now requires that I read out the complete version info of *.dll and *.exe files, basically everything you see on the version tab in the file properties.

The current solution I found is to retrieve this information via the GUI (reading all the info from right this tab for every file in a specific directory). Now the problem is that this is very slow and not an elegant solution at all.

Does anyone of you know of a program which has the complete version info as an output?

    Re: File Version info

    Hi Klaus,

You will probably need to use API functions calls, if you cannot retrieve the information that you require from SilkTest's system functions.

I know that there are a number of funtions in the 'kernel32' which return file information. I have never tried to use these functions but the ones that I have come across are,
    GetFileAttributes
    GetFileSize
    GetFileTime
    GetFileType
    GetFileVersionInfo

    I hope that this helps.

    John.

    This might help...\

well, maybe not... I tried to attach a zip of a dll, but it is 53k and the max size allowed is 50k.

    Sorry.
