dynamically populating form values
I'm begining to write some scripts for load testing a web application, and am wondering how to make silk use existing, prepopulated values in some form elements. I've tried unsuccessfully to use the WEBFORMVALUEGET() function, and to use the variable from that in the FORM section, but my values are all coming out NULL. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Re: dynamically populating form values
Well, first of all, this would be better posted to the SilkPerformer forum.
As to your question, if I understand you correctly you're trying to populate items in the dclform section with some values that are on the web page that you're testing? That is, rather than create random data files, you want SilkPerformer to post from data that's on the web page itself, right? (If I'm mistaken, ignore the rest of this.)
Prior to loading the page you want to get data from, you'll need to use WebParseResponseData to capture the page. For example:
***The above would capture all of the data in the currency PopupList on Yahoo's currency conversion page. You could then do some string manipulation (StrSearchDelimited) to get out just one of the data values.
***Then, using WebFormValuePairInsert you can build up the form you have in the dclform section of your SilkPerformer script.
