    Mouseover text

    We are testing several products that generate a textbox when a mouseover is performed on certain objects.

    We want to automate reading the displayed text when the mouseover occurs.

    We have tried the GetHelpText () function which does not work.

    Anyone had any success in this area?

    Re: Mouseover text

    Yes, I have automated the help text for quite a few items.

    Do a GetChildren on the control when the text is displayed. That will tell you what SilkTest sees the text as (and if it can even see the text).

    Once you know what it's seen as, you should be able to figure out how to get the text.

    Hope that helps.

    Try Taskbar.Start.GetCaption()

    I just did some experimenting on a product I'm responsible for, and I was able to get the help text with that.

    Even that does not help out....

    By the way I am working with Win 2000 pro. and Silk Test 5.0.3.... does it make any probability for the problem.

    Re: Mouseover text

    If this is a web app, GetCaption works if you use IE 5 and the DOM extension.
