Silk Test inconsistent in selecting items from PopupLists & ListBoxes

    Hello,

I am using silk test 5.0.3 on win2K with IE 5.00.2920.0000 for testing a web based application.

The scipt inconsistently fails in searching items in PopupLists & List Boxes.

for eg, if an item has to be selected from a PopupList & List Box 50 times in a script, it will work for 25 times and it will consistently fail for the 26th time. Please note that the same function is being called for selecting this item.

Further, the same script works on another silk test host machine and fails consistently on the 40th selection.

The whole thing is really puzzling.

Are there any agent options to be set? Please help.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Gautam

PS: Let me know if you need any additional info to troubleshoot.

It sounds like the script is running out of memory to me.

Does the machine where it fails after 40 times have more memory than the machine where it fails after 25 times? Does it have a bigger hard drive cache?

What error message do you get??

It can be memory leak(but why it didn't crash Silk), but it can also be a memory corruption, where the information is no longer valid.

    Guatam,

This is the sort of situation where I would attempt to recreate the failure manually. If it involves no more than 25 runs through a popup list, that shouldn't be too difficult. This sounds more like a problem with the AUT than with Silk; and that's exactly why we test!

Re: Silk Test inconsistent in selecting items from PopupLists & ListBoxes

We had a similar problem a few months ago with a listbox that has 127 items. Doing a looped selection of each item sequentially it failed at same item, somewhere between 80 and 90, I don't recall the exact one. It failed in SilkTest 5.0.3.1 and SilkTest 5.5, even on different PC's / Windows OS's.

We had to work around the issue by using TypeKeys to cursor to the desired item so that we could do the test at hand.
