    SilkTest failing to recognize VBMDIForm

I am testing a VB application. The main window of this application is a VBMDIForm class window. Periodically, SilkTest fails to recognize this for seemingly no reason. I have been using SilkTest with this app for the better part of a year and within the last six months, SilkTest will periodically declare this window as a MainWin class. The problem is that it is not consistent. One day it may be a MainWin, and the next it will be a VBMDIForm. Usually when this happens, there have been no changes in the application. Often times this window class will change while the VB application is open. I have tried shutting down SilkTest, the VBApplication and rebooting. Nothing seems to correct it. It will "correct itself" just as quickly and mysteriously as it breaks. Has anybody experienced this behavior?

I see a problem similar to this when using the recorder on 2k. I get MainWin's in the place of XulTemplateDlg's for Netscape popups.

Does anyone else think the problem could be on 2k only?

well, co-inkadinkly, the one it works on (mainwin)
is nt, the one that sees it as vbmidiform is w2k

    Thats funny...

I have mostly stopped developing using 2k for this reason. My XP code usually seems to work on 2k and the recorder weirdness isn't an issue on XP.

Do you have a workaround for your problem?

Search your registry for qaphooks.dll and make sure that there isn't a comma after its name (AppInit key or something like that).

Otherwise, can you kill the app when it is mis-recognized and bring it up again to see if it has "corrected itself" yet?

Yes in W2k, there is a trailing "," PLUS there are quotes around it, NT, no "," no quotes

What action will make them compatible? Which way should it be?

The comma definitely should not be there. That will cause problems. The quotes I am not sure about. Try just getting rid of the comma first, see if it is fixed. If not, trying taking out the quotes too.

Nope, didn't do anything, but it is official now.
Scripts developed on NT only run on NT
Scripts developed on W2K only run on W2K

    Does it never stop?
