    Web and Non-web interfaces

I have a collegue testing a product with both web and non-web interfaces. He wants his testscripts to test both and has had trouble configuring Silk to do this. He is using Silk 2.1 and is wondering whether upgrading to Silk 5.0 might help.

Has anyone else got this to work?

    Re: Web and Non-web interfaces

Is he trying to automate the testing of both Web GUI and non web GUI at the same time. Meaning in the same testcase?

If not. And he has Organizer: You can create 2 different .opt files (option files) one with the Web environment and the other without. The in the organizer he can tell it which opt file to load before executing a specific testcase.

    Re: Web and Non-web interfaces

I recieved the following solution from Walt Rawlins, who agreed to have it be posted here.

Subject: Switching from app to browser in Silktest

    Bret:

I ran into this a while back and talked to Segue. They sent me a
solution that works in Silk 2.1. You can change from a an app to a
browser after you start the app with an option, Agent.SetOption
(OPT_EXTENSIONS, {"netscap4.vxx"}). The way we did it was to create two
appstates. You need to define the wMainWindow as a global window and
change it after you have started the app.
