How to get data from table?

    Hi All,

When I record the test case, SilkTest couldn’t see the column data on the table. I move the mouse pointer over the value in the grand total row. Then, press Ctrl+Alt. The verify window only shows “Enabled” and “Rect” properties. I can’t see “FormattedText” property. SilkTest shows “GetFormattedText” is User defined method.

Is there a way, I can add “FormattedText” to “Properties to Verify” list.

Here is what I have done: (On Win2k/ IE5.0/ SilkTest5.0.3)
    1. Record Testcase: PriceCheck (DefaultBaseState: http://gmo.segue.com)
    2. Click Start Recording.
    3. Click the title bar of the browser to make it active.
    4. Click Enter GMO OnLine
    5. Select the Order Quantity text field for External Frame Backpack.
    6. Enter 3 as the quantity
    7. Click Place An Order
    8. Move but not click, the mouse so its pointer is over the value $571.84 in the grand total row.
    9. Press Ctrl+Alt
    10. At Verify Window:
    Window filed -- PlaceOrder.HtmlTable2.HtmlColumn("QtyProduct DescriptionDelivery StatusUnit PriceTotal Price?3External Frame BackpackTo Be Shipped$ 179.95 $ 539.85 ?
    Windows to Verify: HtmlColumn(“Total Price”)
    Properties to Verify: Enable – Ture, Rect – {785, 186, 154, 26}

------- No $FormattedText property shows on the property list -------------------

    Though?

I am not sure what are you asking.

you can use this function to return a pre-formatted string.

    PrintfToString (sFormat, aArgs, ...)

Is the point 10 in your question a full function call(it's kind of messy)?

Re: How to get data from table?

I don't think that Silk is trying to verify the formatting properties because of the way the HTML is written.

Attached here is a html file as txt (so you may have to convert the extension to .htm), but it is a copy of the source of that page. I have modified it so that the Grand Total amount is sitting within HTML FONT tags.

If you do verify properties on this then it will detect that the total is in bold and hence you get the option.

I have also used the HTML bold tagging instead of the defined style 'Strong', but don't worry about that bit.. it is the FONT tag that is important, because bold is already defined in Strong.

Sometimes SilkTest can fail because of the way the HTML is written, so in some cases a few tweaks to the HTML are necessary.

    Hope this helps,

    Paul.

    BeebleMaster

Can you tell me what are the tweaks that will make silk recognize a web page better?
