editing .ini files on remote machine

This is not working for me. I keep getting "*** Error: Unable to save IniFile". Does anyone know why this is happening or how to work around it?

I'm using Silk's ini file functions.

1)do you have a mapped drive on your local machine for the remote location?

    2)if not do so.

    3)otherwise I am clueless:P

    Also check user permission.

Can you paste your code here.

Silk's INI functions will only work on the Host PC. The only way to work with .INI files on remote machines is to share the drive on the remote machine and map it on the host so that it appears to be "local", or copy the .INI file to the Host, edit it, and copy it back.

As an alternative to mapping drives you can use UNC paths.

    HINIFILE hFile = IniFileOpen ("\\<remote system>\<share>\<inifile>")

When using UNC paths you must make sure that you have sufficient privileges on the remote system in order to make the changes.

Sorry, my message above was automatically edited - invalid characters. The code should look like this:

    HINIFILE hFile = IniFileOpen ("\\remote_machine\share\ini_file")
