    Html Heading Part Deux

    There was post on this subject about a year ago, but the responses weren't too helpful. The issue was that SilkTest was merging several HtmlLinks into one HtmlHeading. I have the same problem with the application I am testing. The web page consists (in part) of a heading followed by several non-underlined links, like so:

    Heading
    Link One
    Link Two
    Link Three

    But Silk creates the identifier as:
    HtmlHeading HeadingLinkOneLinkTwoLinkThree
    tag "Heading Link One Link Two Link Three"

    Setting the browser options to always underline links has no effect (there are js rollover effects on all of the links), they remain underline-less. I have tried to create custom classes for each of the links, but Silk still wants to lump them all into one heading. I have been using SilkTest v.5.0.1 on IE 5.50. I would appreciate any kind of help as I have been unable to get around this problem.

    Re: Html Heading Part Deux

    I used to have this problem a lot where I used to work while using Silk 5.0.1 some 18 months ago.

    The only way I could get round it was to cumbersomely use co-ords to select each of the other links. Not a very good solution but it did work for me (if selecting is what you need to do).

    If a new version of Silk Test is available to you then try that, but sounds like there could be some mis-tagging in the HTML hence that's why it's pulling out a HtmlHeading, but then I'm not too sure what JS rollover's do to the HTML.

    Good luck!

    Can you send a link to the page? Also, what version of the browser and SilkTest are you using?

    The page can be found at:
    http://64.244.122.62/planview

    This is a demo setup used by our sales group. The user name and password to get in are both ******* - just leave the default database (SALES70) in place. After logging in you will see the page I am refering to (HomeView). As I had mentioned above, the browser version I am using is IE 5.5 and the version of SilkTest is 5.0.1. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    John,

    I'm seeing all of the links independently with no problem. I'm using Silk 5.03.1 with DOM support and IE 5.01.

    What browser/Silk version are you using?

    Re: Html Heading Part Deux

    I just remembered something I used to use when all links were being recognised as one.

    As far as I know this only works for Silk Test 5.01, I know it definitely doesn't work for 5.02 onwards and it is not documented.

    Try this in your code...

    wWindow.SetUserOption("JoinStackedText",FALSE,USER OPT_DEFAULT)
    {Insert some code to do whatever you want with these links}
    wWindow.SetUserOption("JoinStackedText",TRUE,USERO PT_DEFAULT)

    Also, set up a testcase/function with the lines:-

    Browser.SetActive()
    wWindow.SetUserOption("JoinStackedText",FALSE,USER OPT_DEFAULT)

    Run it while the page you are looking at is already open in your browser, then see if you can see the individual links by Record-->Window Declarations.

    You will need to change wWindow to the window name you have specified in your declaration of that page.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Html Heading Part Deux

    Beeblemaster has good points. Also, you can sometimes use GetFullCaption () to get wrapped text from Html* objects.

    John's problem was fixed by reverting to an earlier version of IE.
