    Checking HTML Check boxes with Silk 5.0.3.2(DOM Extensions)

    Hi Silk Users

    This one might be a known problem but i couldn't solve it. I am involved in testing web apps which have tables.
    One of my pages have HTML Checkboxes within a table. My problem is if i need to check the checkbox number 1 it is giving a "Control Not Responding Error" because it is clicking at some other location. By Trial and error i have found that if i do Page("Page Name").Table("Table Name").Column("Column Name).HtmlCheckBox("#5").Check() - selects the first check box.

    Is there any better workaround for the above problem.

    I have tried the settings Show Borderless Tables = 0.0. Didn't work.

    Thanks in advance

    Sandeep

    Re: Checking HTML Check boxes with Silk 5.0.3.2(DOM Extensions)

    I had a similar problem with HtmlCheckboxes when i upgraded from 5.03 to 5.0.3.2, in the end it was due to silk getting confused by the tags i was using. I switched from the caption to the window ID and my problem was solved.

    Re: Checking HTML Check boxes with Silk 5.0.3.2(DOM Extensions)

    James - Thanks for your reply. But it didnt work. When i record the actions of checking the check box it records as
    ("Page Name").Table("Table Name").Column("Column Name).HtmlCheckBox("#5").Uncheck()

    When i try playing back it just gets the focus to the required check boxes but fails to initiate any action.

    But as reported in my previous quote from checkbox no.5 is taken as checkbox no.1 and so on.

    Any suggestions.

    Thanks

    Sandeep

    But the presence of "#5" for the checkbox's tag value indicates that you did not switch to using WindowIDs like James suggested. "#5" is an index tag.

    Hi pCostigan

    Thanks for ur reply. What I have quoted above was just an example. The actual recording was something like this

    ("Page Name").Table("Table Name").Column("Column Name).HtmlCheckBox("$File[5]").Uncheck()

    Stop using Record and playback and define the object in your frame file, that way your can be sure the object is recognised correctly.
    Once the objects in there, test it using record actions, that way your can be sure silk sees the object correctly.
    The only other problem i had was silk recorded uncheck where i wanted to check, correct this as it is an error.

    Hope this helps.

    Also, if silks having any sort of problem with object recognition your doomed with that approach.

    Hi Everyone,

    Thanks for ur replies. I had posted the above query to Segue and they acknowledged that this is a bug and i ve been given 2 options - either upgrade to Silk 5.5
    or downgrade to IE 5.00.

    Also....
    I was having problems with yet another checkbox, wasn't behavin' on the check and uncheck.
    After pulling my hair out for a while i struck upon a stupidly simple yet effective solution.

    YourCheckBox.Click(1,10,10)
