    Tab vs Click

When automating an application in which there are series of text boxes and the data has to be entered through the script, then which is the better option: -
    a) Using tab keys to proceed to the next text box or
b)Identifying each text box by mouse click.

Is there any other robust approach to identify a control.
    Please answer.

In my experiences, you can't rely on the tab order in most cases. I usually just reference the text box object by name and SetText() to it. If your declarations are correct, then SilkTest shouldn't have any problem finding the text box on its own.

1)Always remember that a test is always in a controlled environment.

2)Case 1 if your text boxes have the same caption I recommend to
3)Case 2 if your text boxes have all distinct
name then use the usual SetText().

    Re: Tab vs Click

As John B. mentioned, you don't have to identify each text box/textfield with a mouse click IF you have your declarations set properly.

With regards to SetText (), depending on how your developer(s) implemented the textfields (as in some PowerBuilder or Delphi apps), it does not work all the time. Sometimes (very rare situation), you'll have to use TypeKeys () instead.
