    Silk on xWindows

    A general question:
Will SilkTest recognize and manipulate objects inside an xWindows session. I have (or actually i am going to have) Silk on an NT workstation and I am opening a vnc (xWin) connection to a Unix box on which the app runs.
I guess i can generalize the question: When xWin session is created, it is drawn by winNT. Is there a possibility Silk will treat it as regular windows GUI?? (like an MDI interface or something)??
    thanx

    Re: Silk on xWindows

    Hi,

From my experience SilkTest will see the emulator window as a custom window and you will not be able to get access to the 'objects' inside. It may be possible to send keystrokes to the window to invoke commands etc.. but in order to see an xWindows application you would probably have to use the Motif version of QA Partner on the Unix platform.

No it won't recognize objects in a VNC window... No tool will since the ibject recognission happens on the OS that displays the objects, not a TV screen that displays them.

The only way to do this is to buy QAPartner for Solaris and run the agent there and then try to talk to it.

ok , so input into the vnc is not possible with Silk.

but is it possible to see the Solaris silk script running on the NT vnc ?

right now, i am running a script and have to go to the Solaris machine to monitor the script running.
