    Getting text color and back color for an item in a tree view.

    I have a tree view with child objects in it. Now, depending on the state of the objects, the background color and text color of the object change. For example, if the object is in error state the background color of the text will be in red and the text will be in white. The problem I'm having is getting the text color property of an item. Does anybody know a workaround? Thanks in advance.

    We'll need to know more about your app before we can begin to help. Is it browser-based? Or is it a client app and if so what is it written in (VB, C/C++, PowerBuilder, Java, other)?

    Re: Getting text color and back color for an item in a tree view.

    Dev. Language: C++
    Environment: Client/Server

    I sent out an inquiry to Tech Support and they recommended to use GetBackgroundColor but this applies to TextField. The item in the treeview on our app is not seen as a TextField.

    Thanks in advance.

    You may have to define your own method for this one using something from the COLORINFO data type. See Online Help.

    I have tried the same thing on PowerBuilder and Java apps (not on a C/C++ app) with no success. In both cases my experience was that the properties simply were not available via the API and therefore SilkTest nor any other automated test tool was going to have any success.

    If it's a web app, you can grab the html source and parse it It's ugly but it will work. Otherwise I am thinking to call a win API to get the info(probably using a dll).

    Don't ask how, because I don't know how:P
