Problem creating Test Frame for Java Application

When I create a Test Frame for Java AUT, it creates a test frame which contains the declaration for MainWin BUT the declaration for Menu and Menu Items is not getting recorded.

    * I have SilkTest 5.0.3, JDK 1.3
    * I have added “SilkTest_Java2.jar” to the CLASSPATH
    * JDKHOME is set to d:\jdk1.3
    * Application extension for Java is enabled
    * Application = Notepad (This is a sample application that comes with JDK1.3 and is installed under the JDK1.3 installation folder e.g. D:\jdk1.3\demo\jfc\Notepad\Notepad.jar)

Following is what I am getting in the Test Frame,

    [ ] const wMainWindow = Notepad
    [ ]
    [-] window JavaMainWin Notepad
    [ ] tag "Notepad"
    [ ]
[ ] // The working directory of the application when it is invoked
    [ ] const sDir = "D:\jdk1.3\demo\jfc\Notepad"
    [ ]
[ ] // The command line used to invoke the application
    [ ] const sCmdLine = "D:\jdk1.3\bin\java.exe -jar Notepad.jar"
    [ ]
[ ] // The value of CLASSPATH when starting the Java Application
    [ ] const sClasspath = "D:\jdk1.3;D:\jdk1.3\bin;C:\Progra~1\Segue\SilkTes t\JavaEx\SilkTest_Java2.jar"
    [ ]
[ ] // The first window to appear when the application is invoked
    [ ] // const wStartup = ?
    [ ]
[ ] // The list of windows the recovery system is to leave open
    [ ] // const lwLeaveOpen = {?}
    [ ]
    [ ]
    [ ]
    [ ]
    [-] window MessageBoxClass MessageBox
    [ ] tag "~ActiveApp/[JavaDialogBox]$MessageBox"
    [-] JavaPushButton OK
    [ ] tag "OK"
    [-] JavaPushButton Cancel
    [ ] tag "Cancel"
    [-] JavaPushButton Yes
    [ ] tag "Yes"
    [-] JavaPushButton No
    [ ] tag "No"
    [-] JavaStaticText Message
    [ ] motif tag "#2"
    [ ] tag "#1"

Re: Problem creating Test Frame for Java Application

To get my app to work I had to mention the CLASSPATH environment varibable when launching my app through java.exe.

    java -classpath %CLASSPATH% MethodToStartApp

Also, the environment variable had to mention the SilkTest jar file AND all of the jar files that my app needs.

    Hope this helps...
    Tom

Re: Problem creating Test Frame for Java Application

I had a similiar problem with Java
    application.Silk was unable to identify
all the controls on the windows...
    I included
    path "......\JavaEx\SilkTest_Java2.jar"
in the batch file which was executing the
    Java testing application.
I still have many Custon Win in the Frame
file, but the Silk is able to identify
    all the controls...

Re: Problem creating Test Frame for Java Application

I tried what you're trying using several of the jdk1.3\demo apps and had the same result. If you figure it out, please LMK for future reference.

However, I was easily able to the SilkTest demo app working. I used jTestApp.bat in the SilkTest install folder then the JavaEx subfolder. Just had to set the JDKHOME environment variable and it worked like a charm.
