Can Silk do OCR like Winrunner ?
A Winrunner Guru friend of mine was touting Winrunner's ability to read a bitmap from a portion of the screen, perform OCR, and return the appropriate text (Ascii).
Of course, it sounds like a great QnD workaround when the tool just can't easily recognize a particular object.
Does SilkTest have this feature (? if not, how come ?), and if not, has anyone successfully implemented it as a .dll call to some third party software ?
Re: Can Silk do OCR like Winrunner ?
AFAIK SilkTest does not offer OCR functionality like that in WR.
(BTW, it's a great feature when your back is really to the wall and there are no other options available!)
I do remember hearing of a third-party company offering an add-on dll to SilkTest some time back which performed this task - can't remember the name of the company, but a web search may locate it.
There also seems to be a tool called Textract mentioned at http://www.qalinks.com/Tools/more2.html which may be able to offer some help.
Hope this is of some use,
