    data-driven Test case

    I been trying to create a data-driven test case. I am using the example right from Silk help section. but everytime I compile it I get this error.

    Filed sText is not defined in record SEARCHINFO
    I get this error for each of my variables.
    It's kind of hard to learn this stuff when even the help examples don't work. And try get support from Silk is impossible. I have attached the code please tell me if I am missing something...

    type SEARCHINFO is record
    STRING sText // Text to type in document window
    STRING sPos // Starting position of search
    STRING sPattern // String to look for
    BOOLEAN bCase // Case-sensitive or not
    STRING sDirection // Direction of search
    STRING sExpected // The expected match

    testcase FindTest (SEARCHINFO Data)
    TextEditor.File.New.Pick ()
    DocumentWindow.Document.TypeKeys (Data.sText+Data.sPos)
    TextEditor.Search.Find.Pick ()
    Find.FindWhat.SetText (Data.sPattern)
    Find.CaseSensitive.SetState (Data.bCase)
    Find.Direction.Select (Data.sDirection)
    Find.FindNext.Click ()
    Find.Cancel.Click ()
    DocumentWindow.Document.VerifySelText ({Data.sExpected})

    TextEditor.File.Close.Pick ()
    MessageBox.No.Click ()

    Re: data-driven Test case

    It might be a problem with copying and pasting examples from Help file to SilkTest editor.

    When you copy from help file to SilkTest editor you have to verify that all [+], [ ] or [-] set properly.
    Also, you have to look to how lines were copied, SilkTest editor allows to carry line over by pressing Shift and then Enter.
    So if you see in the Editor.

    * somecode
    somecode
    * somecode

    that means you have

    * somecodesomecode
    * somecode

    Re: data-driven Test case

    When you get more familiar with the Visual 4Test Editor, you'll catch this type of problem (copying text from Online Help that contains some invisible characters).
    If you are using the "old" QA Partner Editor called "Classic Editor" then you'll have a harder time figuring out the problem.
    With the Visual 4Test Editor (the Default Editor), you'll notice that the lines containing the keyword STRING underneath the "type ... is record" line are not in BLUE color as they should be. You'll also notice that all these lines have the RED "X" in front of them indicating that something is wrong in each of the lines.
    You can just retype these lines and the example you are trying out should work!
