    Verify Information in Access database

    Hi,

    In my application I have to do somethings, like add files and then Go in to Access and verify that this file has also been added in the database. I have Access Database application on my machine. I just have to verify that file has been added to the database.

    How can I do this?

    thank you.

    Re: Verify Information in Access database

    Yamini,

    For this, you'd want to use the DB commands, and be somewhat familiar with some basic Access SQL commands to get the data you want. Descriptions of them can be found in the 4Test Reference. The tricky thing is that a couple of these functions work differently with an Access Database than with another database such as SQL Server or Oracle.

    From what I can remember about my past experience with this is that when you Execute a SQL statement, your SQL statement should look something like SELECT DISTINCTROW [VERSION],[MEMO1],[MEMO2],[MEMO3] FROM BFXTEXTBLOCK WHERE [NAME]=""MLV01"""

    You must be sure that you reference the columns with the [] around them.

    I hope this helps provide some direction.

    Thank you bostonsilk.

    One more question. How do I connect to my database?

    Do I use folowing to connect. For me what shoud be DSN=.

    hdbc = DB_Connect ("DSN=QESS;SRVR=PIONI;UID=sa;PWD=tester")

    Thank you very much.

    Re: Verify Information in Access database

    Hi Yamini,

    I just went and found a couple of examples of my Access stuff. It's pretty simple to connect to an Access database.

    First, make sure you have defined a DataSource in your ODBC on your machine, pointing to that Access database.

    Then, your DB_Connect would look like:
    hdbc = DB_Connect ("DSN=datasource_name")
    where datasource_name is the name of the datasource you created. That's it. For Access, you don't need the SRVR, UID, or PWD fields.
