Trouble with powerbuilder dropdowns and radiolists

    Hi,
I was having problems with certain functions I have written that use GetContents() for dropdowns and Select() for radiolists.
For some reason the AUT comes up with an error message every time.

Are there any work-arounds I could use?

(GetContents() is used as a part of a workaround for Select() which NEVER works for dropdowns)

(For radiolist, I like Select() because you can specify by caption which button to press. But sometimes it doesn't work...)

What's the app built with? That info is really important in this case because VB dropdwons are different than C++ dropdowns which are different from PowerBuilder dropdowns etc.

I find it curious that you have never had success with Select on a dropdown. I ran into a similar problem a few years ago. After some diagnosing it turned out that my developers were setting (or maybe not setting) a property (don't recall which one) of the dropdown in a strange way that didn't really matter to them or the presentation of the control. Once they changed it, I was back to using Select on dropdowns.

Oh, it is a Powerbuilder application, I can't believe I forgot to mention that...

    Thanks, Marcus

Ah! Well, it was in fact the DWDropDownDataWindow class control that I had issues with until my developers fixed things on thier end. I don't recall the details - that was 2-3 years ago at a different company. You might want to consult with your developers on the properties that they are setting for this class of controls.
