    \"java SilkBean \" command

    the manual says to launch the silkbean server,
    run "java SilkBean"

    We tried this on Solaris , but it returns
    "class not found"

    We had to run something like "segue.xxx.SilkBean " to launch the server.

    Other engineers told me it has to do with the SilkBean class being in a JAR file.

    Is this normal?

    I am wondering because we are not able to execute any lines of script on the client.

    On the NT side, we get "Window not found" and on Solaris side the Silkbean debug mode reports:

    Is this OK or is something wrong with our setup?

    Re: \"java SilkBean \" command

    Hi,

    The documentation is out of date (very useful!), In 5.03 the correct command to launch SilkBean is:

    java segue.server.SilkBean &

    Depending on what version of JDK you are using you may still encounter problems. If you are using JDK1.2 you should probably use Xbootclasspath, e.g.:

    java -Xbootclasspath/p:.:/vol/silk/silkbean.jar:/vol/silk/SilkTest_Java2.jar segue.server.SilkBean &

    When you launch your application if you use -Xbootclasspath you should also include silkbean.jar and SilkTest_Java2.jar.

    Hope this helps

    Fergus

    Re: \"java SilkBean \" command

    Thanks.I will try this. I'm not familiar with Unix.

    Our application is launched from a Unix batch file.

    So I will modify the classpath in that file with the -Xbootclasspath/p .
    I'm assuming I don't have to worry about the global classpath settings?

    Also, is there some confirmation message displayed by SIlk when the app is launched
    and sucessfully registered?

    Unix batch file:

    base=`dirname $0`
    cd $base

    if [ -z "${CLASSPATH}" ] ; then

    CLASSPATH="/home.local/komisch/jar/SilkTest_Java2.jar:/home.local/komisch/jar/silkbean.jar:../lib/TrustpointPKIAll.zip:../lib/activation.jar:../lib/ecc_all.jar:../lib/mail.jar:../l
    ib/classes111.zip:../lib/jhall.jar:../lib/jndiall.jar:../lib/jsdk.jar:../lib/swingall.jar"

    else

    CLASSPATH="/home.local/komisch/jar/SilkTest_Java2.jar:/home.local/komisch/jar/silkbean.jar:../lib/TrustpointPKIAll.zip:../lib/activation.jar:../lib/ecc_all.jar:../lib/mail.jar:../l

    lib/classes111.zip:../lib/jhall.jar:../lib/jndiall.jar:../lib/jsdk.jar:../lib/swingall.jar:$CLASSPATH"

    export CLASSPATH

    echo "Starting CA Wizard..."
    ../jre1.2.2/bin/java -Xmx80m -Djava.compiler=NONE
    com.trustpoint.client.admin.PKIAdmin -config ../admin/ca_wizard.cfg
