How do Object Maps work?
Mostly Object Maps and Project Folders.
For Example... I have Script1 in ProjectA
I record the steps just fine and they are record in ProjectA in the Object Map
I than have Script2 in Common Project.
I record steps that also use part of the same screen.
This means now I have Two Object Maps with the same Name but in two different Projects.
I can tell there is no way to combine these two objects. But does the Silk Test check both Projects for the Object Map? Do we know what Order it does this in?
Having object maps with the same name in a project and the Common project is not a good idea as Silk Test will probably find the first match.
Silk Test 14 does a better job of handling object maps and you can copy/paste entries between object maps. Other enhancements include honouring changes made in the object map during subsequent recording sessions, creating different object map entries for different domains (browser testing).
I could see that happening, but it seems like Silk Test Records it that way. I guess more the question is an object map restricted at all by the project its in?
Do they have any confirmed released date yet for Silk Test 14?
Silk Test 14 goes GA today. With regard to object maps, normal project scoping rules apply, i.e. you can see the object entries for the current project and the Common project only.
