Not UI dependant scripts
I’d like to gather this group opinions on the subject of creating UI independent tests.
In other words, I am looking for feedback (positive and negative) on comparison of scripts developed with GUY driven tools like SilkTest/WinRunner/Visual Test etc. vs. other tools that do not require UI to run.
Thank you in advance
Re: Not UI dependant scripts
Testing by bybassing the GUI is good only if you have certifed that GUI once before and there are no changes in the GUI. In other words, that type of testing is great if your testing a port of the server to a different architecture. Also, remeber the user accesses the server through the GUI so the tests that bybass the GUI should be a subset (maybe 80%) of your testing, while the others are done through the GUI.
