Can HTML apps (.hta) be automated using SilkTest?

    Hi,

Has anyone successfully automated an HTML application (.hta)? Our group has previously attempted automating it but not succeeded. SilkTest seems to not recognize our application. I just inherited the product and the task of automating it but so far have not had a lot of luck getting started. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mindy

It's my understanding (I'm new with this concept) is that it uses the IE shell but you create your own forms that define the UI. So you don't see the IE buttons like Back, Next, etc, you see your own controls.

I have same problem with HTA. I have tried some other automation tools. Found QARun to recornize the HTA and objects, fields on a HTA page.

The release notes of SP2a had information on testing HTA apps. I tried it with a simple app and it worked fine.

You'll need to write a customized application state to handle the window with no menus or location field. SilkTest will look for the normal browser if you use DefaultBaseState.

    Hope this helps
