Help with testing tables
I am working on a VB application in which the data is displayed in
excel spread sheets where you can manipulate the data, I mean the
spread sheet has combo boxes, text fields etc. I tried recording test cases
using silk test but it clicks by the screen co-ordinates. I need to use
the methods like ClickCell, EnterCellText, getcelltext etc...
Any suggestions how to test??
Thanks in advance.
Re: Help with testing tables
Without looking at the application, its a little hard to make recommendations. However, you will probably have to use either DLL's, the Extension Kit, or find a way to move around the spreadsheet using keystrokes.
You can use keystrokes to navigate to specific cells, to set and select text in the cells, and to copy the text in the current cell to the clipboard (assuming copy/paste is enabled). You can then use Clipboard.GetText () to read the copied text.
Keystrokes are sent using the TypeKeys method.
window.TypeKeys ("<Right 5><Down 2>")
For popup lists, there is often a keystroke which will expand the list, then send <Down> arrows and <Enter> to the list.
To navigate to a specific cell, use <Right n> and <Down n>
Hope this helps
