    Multiple Main Windows

My application, when it comes up, it contains a Message Window that it can not be closed, only minimized. QA Partner declares or recognizes this window as a MainWin, consecuently causing problems when trying to access the real MainWin.
Is there something I can do so QA Partner recognises this window as a ChildWin?
    [-] window MainWin BillPlex
    [-] multitag "BillPlex*"
    [ ] "$C:\Program files\Daleen\BillPlex\Wasabi.exe"

    [-] window MainWin MessageWindow
    [ ] tag "Message Window"

    [-] window MainWin MainInvoiceView
    [ ] tag "BillPlex"

    Re: Multiple Main Windows

The answer to the question that you asked: No. The class of a window can't really be changed. If QAP sees a window "[MainWin]Fred" then it won't find that window if you tell it to look for "[ChildWin]Fred".

Now, addressing your problem; I've scripted with multiple MainWins for years; that isn't the issue. But having two windows with the same identifier is a real problem. In this case, you can fix some of your problem (possibly all of it) by using something other than a caption for your tags.

In this particular case, MainWin BillPlex should be using its ID ( "$C:\Blah.exe" though you might need to be more clever if this file can be installed in different places). MessageWindow looks fine the way it is. MainInvoiceView needs a new tag - "BillPlex" won't do, as you don't want to get it confused with BillPlex. Bring up the RecordDeclarations dialog and see if there is an ID on that window that you can use.

If that doesn't work, you will need to get fancy, probably by using the hWnd property - see http://www.ultranet.com/~danil/Cluey/unique.html
for an idea that you may be able to adapt to your needs.

ps: I agree with Mr. Trushkin - multitag is *evil*

    Thanks for the responce.
About the multi tags, I was told by Segue to use them for multilanguage (localization), that it will help me on the long run. That I was to use as tags the Window Caption and Location. Is this true?? Am I hurting myself with mutil tgas?
