    Verify the Objects

How can we Verify the Objects, Titles while executing a Test.

    Like:-

    Ex:-

    1. Login Page

Now I want to Verify and Print the Verfification in Result.txt:-

Step No Step Name Status Description

    1. "Valid Url" Done "SAM Login page is
    displayed"
    2. Verify that the Passed "Login, Password are
    Login items are Displayed"
    displayed."

How We can do this. Also I am new with Verify Statement.

    Thanks,

    Nishant Jain

    Re: Verify the Objects

    Hi Nishant,

Although your explanation is a bit confusing, I would try my best to get close to what I think you want. Plz correct me if I have misinterpreted the same.

As you already know Verify() function merely compares the actual value against the expected value. So in your case 1 & 2 you can use the same as follows

    1.
Verify(object.GetLocation(),"www.google.com","Done SAM Login page is displayed")

Here, I am not sure if it is possible to get the line number directly through any API in SilkTest. Nevertheless you can keep a counter of your own & append it to the description above.

    2.
Verify(MainObj.LoginTextField.Exists(), TRUE, "Login Text field is displayed")

Verify(MainObj.PasswordTextField.Exists(), TRUE, "Password Text field is displayed")

Let me know if there is anything more than this ...

    Re: Verify the Objects

    Thanks for Reply.

But one another Query. I used Verify () for one Statement. In this Expected Result is comming in two lines like:-

    Home
    Logout

But Actual is comming like Home, logout. How we will resolve this?

    Thanks,

    Nishant Jain

    Re: Verify the Objects

Also, I used Some Verify and Continue () for Some Statements. Please see the results:-

[ ] Verify that Login Page Displayed PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Login Page Displayed PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Home Page Displayed PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Create Container Page Display PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Create Container Page Display PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Create Container Push Button is Enabled PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Header Page Display PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Header Page Display PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Header Page Display PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Header Page Display PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Reference Information Page Displayed PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Static Party Information Page Displayed PASSED.
[ ] Verify that Document Save Successfully PASSED.
    [ ] Additional Information: View_Linked_Doc_UI, Successfully !
    [ ] Container Document Created : CON_10/21/08 06:18:08

For one Page I did multiple verification so that I am getting "Login Page Displayed multiple times. 2 verificatio are there on Login Page, so two message are coming.

How Can I get Message only one time "[ ] Verify that Login Page Displayed PASSED." if verification are multiple.

    Thanks,

    Nishant Jain

    Re: Verify the Objects

    Hi Nishant,

You cannot have a single message displayed for multiple verification. Coz every time you verify an object it will display the description associated with that Verify function.

I understand that you are doing multiple verifications on the Login page in which case you can use a different description for each of your verifications.

    For e.g.
If you are verifying that the userName field is displayed, you can have a unique description for the same & so on for other objects on the Login page.

As far as your post previous to this is concerned, can u plz give me a bit more insight on what exactly is happening.

    Hope this helps ...
