    Re: swicthing between browsers and gen question

    Hi,

    I ran into this at my last company...

    Using SetBrowserType instead of SetDefaultBrowserType should take care of the weird behavior you are seeing.

    An explanation of why you see IE twice and then netscape twice...

    Your default browser in the Runtime options is probably IE. Your script sets the default browser type to netscape, but this
    doesn't go into effect until until a new agent connect is made - when you run the script a second time.

    Thanks Olinda

    That did the trick. All the bad behaviour has dissapeared, and I am left with a working script!!!

    swicthing between browsers and gen question

    All

    I have taken a year off Silk and worked with Mercury Interactive's WinRunner. Didn't care much for the product but I do have two questions on Silk.

    In my code I want to be able to go between two browsers here is the fragment (sorry the indenting for the for loop isn't being preserved .. it's there!):

    <code>
    [ ] Browsertype ie = explorer5
    [ ] Browsertype nn = netscape4
    [ ] Browsertype brows = nn
    [ ]
    [ ]
    [ ] list browser_list = {ie,nn}
    [ ] for each brows in browser_list
    [ ] print("browser type == {brows}")
    [ ] SetDefaultBrowserType(brows)
    [ ]
    [ ]
    [ ] // destroy all browsers
    [ ] kill_kill("ab")
    [ ]
    [ ] Browser.Invoke ( )
    [-] do
    [ ] Browser.LoadPage("https://spog.snv1/")
    [-] except
    [ ] print("oh well boys will be boys!")

    </code>

    Two things are going on (both real annoying). The FIRST time I bring up Silk
    When I run this test I get an error that Browser isn't set. This error goes away only if I set a default browser in the runtime options for silk.

    Second and by far more mysterious .. I get locked in a browser! If I am running IE first I go through the loop twice and work only with IE.

    Even though the print statement shows I switched to NN. Then when I start up the test again I often run twice with NN .. even though the first time through the loop I show IE.

    This is preety strange stuff .. what am I failing to do here gang????

    Sincerely Perplexed
