Completion of a batch file that launches another batch file.

Very basically, our problem can be defined by using the two MS-DOS batch files included with this message. The file titled testdir.bat contains one command -- "dir". This batch file is successfully executed by SilkTest and control of the test is returned from the SilkTest Agent to SilkTest.

The second .bat file titled teststart.bat contains two commands -- "start dir" -- which should launch a new command window then display a directory. This batch file is not successfully executed by SilkTest.
The new command window is launched, but the directory list is not displayed in the launched command window, and control of the test is never returned from the Agent to Silk Test.

We must have the ability to launch processes that will remain running, or at a minimum, launch a batch file to call the required process, from SilkTest and have control return to SilkTest so we can continue running
testcases. Previously, a support engineer gave us some examples of invoking a new window but used Notepad as the AUT. We specifically need to be able to use a command
window and interact with it (we actually need to interact with command line based process a LOT in our AUT).

    testdir.bat
    dir

    teststart.bat
    start dir
    exit

Re: Completion of a batch file that launches another batch file.

I tried the suggestion by AJ Alhait of BetaSoft Inc. who posted this idea in another thread and it worked!

If you are using SysExecute ("something.bat param1 pram2"), don't... Here's a better way to do that

    use 'bwcompat.inc'

    App_Start ("something.bat param1 param2")

My team and I do have one concern. This is a backward compatibility file included with SilkTest. The question is does that mean Segue intends to do away with App_Start at sometime in the future?
