Silktest killed javascript in netscape 4.7?

My application uses javascript to check input into text fields in real time. On one page it checks two fields. In the first field it will pop up a warning message if the user inputs too many characters. The warning message is triggered once the user presses tab or clicks on any other part of the page. In the second field, javascript is used to restict the input to numbers and if the user inputs a number outside the range a warning message is immediately triggered. Now when I play back my script it will trigger the first warning message, but in the second fields it seems like javascript got disabled because my script freely entered letters into the field. I can also enter letters into the field by hand now. But if i close down netscape and return to the page, the fields behave normally.

I am using Silktest 5.03, and I did not see this problem with IE5.0
