The testing of different protocols is not a problem in SP that is down to configuration of the project when creating a new script. What you need to ask yourself (i think) is what is the requirement or goal? Is it purely performance or is there an element of security testing due to the product being a firewall? (look at your requirements)
I need to find out the maximum TCP connection per second.
I've got a script that load a page and I've set the KeepAlive in Server to Off. Thus, each HTTP request would required a new TCP connection.
In the Adjust Workload step, I've chosen Steady State and set virtual users to 1000, and run the test for 1 minute. Can I assume that the maximum connection per seconds equals to Requests sent 1/sec in the Overview Report? Am I doing it right or is there a better way to do this?
Similarly, if I want to run 1000 request by only 1 user instead of 1000, I adjust the user profile to execute that transaction 1000 times and chose Verification as the workload model, the result is then been observed in baseline report. It took about 15 seconds before the 1000 transaction completed. However, there is an average result for request sent for 1/sec.
however, the result of these two test is very different. If anyone can give me a pointer, it would be gladly appreciated.
Have you viewed the overview report when the test has finished?.... Are you looking for max TCP connections per second or maxnumber of concurrent connections?.....These are two seperate entities(what i believe) but also can be misconceived as the same..... If you have set up your monitors correctly in the performance explorer then you will get your answer/s.
