Timing an XML Return
I've been testing a datasource that returns XML through an application that accesses the source, and by going directly to the source. The times returned by the application are better than the times returned by the source.
Could the browser emulation (IE 5.5) be causing the difference? That is, does the time returned include the time for IE to parse and display the XML?
Re: Timing an XML Return
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">The time given is just the time until the last byte of the response is received ie no parsing or rendering. I guess maybe that you need to consider how the app pulls the data - for example, perhaps there is caching occuring somewhere between the application and the datasource.
