Most of the PeopleSoft8 error messages come up in dialog boxes. Very few standard protocol errors. Look for an 'alert(' string in all responses and parse out error messages that way.
Also, form names tend to change dynamically. Make sure that you parse them out and variablize all form names used in WebPage requests.
In addition, use WebPageSubmit as much as possible. If the recorder gives you something different, change it to a WebFormSubmit.
In order to monitor any good data, you will want to get psadmin stats from the PS8 application Server. Write a shell script that can get pq, psr, and pclt data from tmadmin. Have the script generate log files with this data. You can then use the SAM to do a remote execution and grep the files for things like queueing, appservs idle, etc.
Make sure to always logout of the application. If you have an error in the transaction that is severe, guarantee that you terminate the session. Open sessions can kill PS8 really fast.
