    SilkPerformer for Dummies Book?

I was searching amazon.com for a "dummies" type of book, no luck. I am looking for a book that shows the most commonly used scripts, functions, strings, etc used in day to day testing of a web site.

I am fairly new to SilkPerformer. I've been searching through the SilkPerformer help section today to get a feel for the various scripts and functions. I think a "dummies" or beginning user type of book would aid in my learning of the product.

There have been several people who have talked about writing one. It seems that time and the need for self-publishing tends to slow this process down.

You mentioned a need for self publishing. Does this mean that none of the main publishing houses will publish such a manual, forcing these authors to self finance?

    Re: SilkPerformer for Dummies Book?

It's a matter of marketspace, target audience, and whether you want to make any money.
Books on testing in general have a larger potential audience than books on a specific tool so publishers are more likely to give the author a reasonable deal and pay for the printing. You may find a poublisher willing to take the risk, but they will want a much larger cut of the profits. Self-publishing gives you a bigger % of what you sell.

    Re: SilkPerformer for Dummies Book?

In reply to the original post. Silk Performer should have come with a tutorial and some sample applications. If you are looking for sample scripts they are also in the silkperformer folder and are quite useful. If you get a chance to do a training course that would be helpful too.

It does come with sample applications. The COM example is pretty good.
