SCTM focuses mainly on Four Main Components
U can import requirement frm a word or excel file or directly enter Req. in SCTM itself
U can Generate a Test Plan from the Reqirement and Create Test Definition and map the test script
U can Create Execution and map to requirement and also schedule the Test Exection
Finally On Issue Tracking u can track the Issues and create your own Code Rules and view Track History.
U can See the Overall Project Status Periodically
One more important thing is u have to configure Administration Before starting the Project. U have to Configure Necassary Servers too.
..I will be happy if anyone suits technical query related to SCTM
You are able to integrate with a number of external tracking system tools like bugzilla, i think if i remember right there are a number of additional plug ins that you can download from the borland support site or info about them at least.
We integrated WinRunner92 with Silk Central 2008 by installing required plugin at the Application Server and Borland SilkCentral Test Manager Mercury Log Viewer Utility on my local mahcine (execution server)
We are able to invoke/kickoff/Run the winRunner on my local machine (execution server) from Silk Central Test Manager web broser client. And the winRunner automation scripts (for a test scenario) got executed and results published in my local folder, which was created by the Silk Central. But the status in the Silk is still showing as Running Test definition even after 5 hours after the completion of execution by winRunner. I am uanble to abort the action form SCTM web browser client.
Now the issue is : I am able to view the log.txt in the silk log viewer utility in the web browser client but not able to view the Results.zip.
What could be the reason?
In the Borland Silk documentaion it is recommended to install HP Mercury Unified Log viewer, which i haven't insalled. From where I can download this?
