Comparing Jmeter and OpenSTA against Loadrunner
I am doing an evaluation of the Open source performance tolls like Jmeter and OpenSTA against Loadrunner. In this regard it will be good if someone can answer the following questions.
2. Is there a way these tools can be integrated with say Qulaity Center to perform the tests.
3. What other kind of testing can be performed using JMeter and OpenSTA otherthan Load and Stress testing.
4. Anyother good feature you can point out for JMeter and OpenSTA in comparison to LoadRunner other than cost.

OpenSTA runs on Windows only.
JMeter is pure Java so it can run on any type system with a JVM.
of course, these can be used to test any system running with any OS, as long as they have an HTTP interface.
OpenSTA does performance testing only and only supports HTTP. Theoretically it could be used for functional testing with verifications in your scripts... but thats really not what it's good for.
Both JMeter and OpenSTA are good tools, but a little limited compared to some of the commercial offerings. However, both are open source and could be adapted as you wish.
