I have to load test a web-application developed using .NET/C# and java web services technologies. I need to find out the response time on a search criteria and find out the max load this application can handle.
I was advised to use JMeter, can I use JMeter to do these tasks and do I need to have java programming knowledge to use JMeter?
Instead can I use LoadRunner or can anyone advise the best tool a tester can use.
Thanks alot in advance.
of course i can't tell you the best tool to use
we're using JMeter for Performance Testing of a web application. Since JMeter is very flexible we're also using it for parts of our functional testing.
You dont need any java programming knowledge to use it and it can simulate the load you need.
JMeter has some lacks in documentation and you may need to find a way to store your test results for later graphical presentation.
Generally you can use JMeter to simulate a certain number of users sending certain requests (f.e HTTPRequests). JMeter also provides you with a recording functionality for capturing requests while using your web browser.
