Hi, I am a newbie, learning to use JMeter for performance testing. I have tried out many examples given on the Jmeter home page of Apache. One problem I am facing is that do we have facility to write scripts in JMeter. Also, where in GUI, is the provision for writing scripts or any functions. Also, when recording through Proxy settings, how to interpretate the parameters that are recorded for each HTTP Request.?
Kindly ellaborate on this.

I will try to answer your question about Jmeters provision for writing scripts or any functions.
According to the documentation, there are user-defined static values and built-in functions. There are 16 build-in functions that come with Jmeter.
The "Java Request" sampler lets you control a java class that implements the JavaSamplerClient interface. You could write your own implementation of this interface to do things like input parameter control or data collection.
The "JUnit Request" sampler works like the "Java Request" sampler with some differences that are highlighted in the documentation.
