Jmeter not able to generate concurrent connections
I m using jmete for a load testing. And I was trying to generate a load of 1000 concurrent connections. My servers are on Windows server 2008. To start with I deployed blank page, and a static HTML page on the IIS. I set up to two slaves and one master for the Jmeter to use. I did all the basic setting as shown in the image.
Once I started the testing, jmeter was showing in the Active Threads Lister that the connections are holding 500 per slaves. Since I wanted to confirm this I used the perfmon tool on the web server and checked the “Web service > Current Connection” counter, but there it was showing me only 10 connections max.
How can I configure the Jmeter to hold the concurrent connections to hold 1000 for say 10 mins?
Your active threads number is really 500 for each slave. However that does not mean you have 500 connections because the connections may get established and get broken for many times while you thread is running. Especially that matters when you request just a page. To rise your concurrent connections number up you have to make your server think a bit longer before sending the response back to your slaves. Another way is to increase number of threads and decrease ramp-up period. However latter approach will give you the desired result only for the ramp-up period (until the load gets stabilized)
