I have a scenario where I need to test the Performance of the URL, the user comes on to the site and then clicks on the file download link.
when the dialog box opens user needs to click on save. I need to simulate 10 to 50 users and measure the performance of the url.
I have tried J-meter, but the second window dialog box is not recognized, I use the bad boy software to record the scripts.
Any suggestions on how to overcome the problem.
I am open to any other open source tool.
That is correct, from where Jmeter sits opening the file is no different from saving it since it will need to be downloaded either way.
Just complete the recording, the interaction between you and the Save/Open dialog box has nothing to be recorded since there is no HTTP traffic. It is possible that once you decide save/open a download file request be sent.
I have tested sites where the file would be downloaded when the "download her" link was clicked on, then I would be asked to save/open. So while recording keep a look out for new samplers created when launching the download.
