I am trying to record a test(google.com) using Jmter proxy server.
have configured as below:
Added http proxy server to Work bench and
name :HTTP Proxy Server
Target controller: Testplan thread group
Included all the patterns .
ADded httprequest default to Thread group and entered
Server name as : google.co.in
Port : blank
now started the server and opened IE browser.
In the internet explorer open the connections -> lan settings -> proxy as Localhost, port: 9090
But when i enter www.google.com in Address bar , its saying page cant be displayed.!!
Please any one can help me ???
Awaiting for ur response..!!
Also can u please let me know the purpose behind making IE Lan settings as : Local host and Port as 9090??
try without using the "patterns" on the proxy server, also remove the HTTPRequest default. Keep it simple at first then add things when you know its working.
Also make sure to start the proxy on JMeter.
The reason for changing the proxy settings is to instruct IE to communicate through Jmeter, this way JMeter can record the communications.

PC 11.0 Patch: 7
Vugen 11.0 Patch: 4
You can try following this guide: http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/use...ep_by_step.pdf
Also, you have the JMeter documentation: http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/usermanual/boss.html
And the JMeter Wiki: http://wiki.apache.org/jakarta-jmeter/
I hope it helps.

Still i m getting the same problem..!! I culd not able to open a google.com site with the LAN settings Localhost and port 9090/8080.Hence could nt able to record the script using Jmeter proxy server.
I did follow all the steps mentioned in the document below. But still i could not make it out. http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/use...ep_by_step.pdf
I tried with two versions of Jmeter i.e 2.3.2 and 2.3.4.
Note : As i am trying from my office system...Can i use My company proxy server address and port to record a test.?? hope it doesn't work..!!
Please let me know .. how to proceed further..
that explains alot, you will have to run Jmeter from the cmd box using the -H [proxy] -P [port]. so that jmeter goes through your company proxy.
You can run jmeter --h for more info.
i used to open jmter in thht mode.. when i record using Badboy..!!
like >jmeter -H proxy.company.com -P 9090 for exmple.!!
but I could nt able to record through jmter proxy server wen i open through cmd in above mode..!!
pls let me know..more abt it..!!
Run Jmeter as you did when running badboy, then set up the jmeter proxy recorder using a different port say 8888 for example, then IE proxy to 8888.
So: IE (8888)-> Jmeter Proxy -> Jmeter (9090)-> company proxy -> WWW
Hope it helps.
Try How to use HTTP Proxy. I hope, it helps.
We can run jmeter scripts (on applications on Internet) by starting it in
-H XXXX -P XXXX -U XXX -P
when u have a proxy server.
but in doubt whether Jmeter can record live applications?
If anybody did it, pls mention it STEP BY STEP.
bcoz whatever POSTS or Help is available, it is available for normal method - through localhost.
