I read on a VT users newsgroup that there's a 6.6 version available from Rational, but is given on a case by case basis. I just talked to a guy at Rational about XP support and he claimed that version does not exit.
Has anyone heard something about this?
FYI: Rational says that XP is not a supported OS for VT. They recomend you upgrade to Rational Robot.
One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say.
Apparently there are several users on the VT_ListServ who have recieved builds of VT 6.6. My understanding is that VT 6.6 was built as a one off for the folks at Microsoft (originators of MS Test) and that several companies that are either very large vendors or have heavy ties to Microsoft have also recieved copies of this build. For that reason, it would appear that unless you have made some large capital outlays to Rational or work for Microsoft, then VT 6.01 or 6.5 is all that is available.
Having said that, I am unsure of what difficulties you are having with XP, but you could more than likely find workarounds by employing more of the Windows API's to your testing methodology.
