Will Visual Test help us
I am a student, and am part of a team that provides desktop support to a large number of desktop users. There is no development involved here. Part of the work that we do here is to ensure that before any new software is introduced, it does not invograte functionality issues amongst other products. Simply put, we have to ensure that the new software integrates with the current environment. An example is the installation of Adobe Accelio with OfficeXP already installed on the desktop. There are a few tests that we run here. There is also other work that we are responsible for, and sometimes the testing process cannot be always done.
I was wondering before i leave here, I could suggest this automated process that could help them test the basic functionality of the software they support. Now the company already has licenses for Winrunner and Visual Test used by other departments. So it would not be difficult acquiring the software. I have programming knowledge, so I would be able to develop some test scripts. Similarly the other student who would replace me could continue developing test scripts in the same manner. I hope I have mentioned enough for someone to make a reasonable suggestion.
Re: Will Visual Test help us
I feel that i was not clear enough, so I am writing again. I will further elaborate on the Adobe Accelio being installed with OfficeXP already on the desktop. Now sometimes installing one new product or hot fix has an effect on the other, and it effects some functionality of the product. In this case, people could not cut from Word and copy into forms created using Adobe Accelio. Sometimes other things happen, now if such integration tests were run automatically, it would save them some time working on other things. I hope I am more clear this time.
