Has anyone used Visual Test with an Windows-based (not Web-based) application built in C# through .NET? I currently own WinRunner and there is a compatability problem with C# applications. The makers of WinRunner (Mercury Interactive) claim that there will be a C# Add-in but that won't be until the end of this year or early next year. I can't wait that long. Any help and/or knowledge about Visual Test's compatability with Window-based applications built with C# would be appreciated. Thanks,
I have not used Visual Test to actually test an application in C# but I just tried to automate some button clicks etc. on a very small tool that I wrote in C# and was successful.
Visual Test allows you to set the classes of controls it doesn't recognize to map to the functions of the controls that are built in. For example, it doesn't recognize a C# command button but will allow you to map a C# button to use the functionality of the WButton* functions. I hope I'm explaining this ok. If you have any questions just give me a holler.
I don't know how committed you are going to be to Visual Test but be advised that our IS people have been told by Rational that 6.5 is the last version of VT and they do not support it on Windows XP or Office XP.
Hope this helps,
