Does VT work on Win 7

Hi all,

does anyone know if Visual Test works on Win 7? I can't find the solution in here or on the web.

All the programs after installing work (i.e. Visual Test Winfo, Viewport, Screen, Help etc), apart from Visual Test. When I launch Rational Visual Test from the Start Menu I get the following error...

Rational Visual Test is incompatible with this version of windows. For more information, contact Rational Software corporation.

Obviously when you look on-line no solution is available, I know VT has been out in the wilderness a long time, has anyone here got the solution?

Probably the only thing you can do is run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP. You may be able to turn off the compatibility checking service in Windows 7, but I have never done so and can't speak to this.

Of course, the best thing you can do is purchase TestComplete (the closest automated testing system to VT), start playing back your VT scripts while recording in TestComplete and start migrating your system. It's nontrivial, but VT is just going to be more problematic as time goes on.

I can't say for sure about the dev environment, but you can run the test programs you write in VT on Win7. We do that in my shop every day.

As the compiled PC6's work (i.e. WINFO),
do the painful step of code creation on older OS (i.e. XP)
and build it robustly enough there, to be standalone (compiled PC6) on Win 7. - and run using modules for free redistribution.

no more quick and dirty code work via the Studio.
