TM: problem with local/network datastore
Hi, I'm having trouble using Test Manager to coordinate/initiate execution of manual and automated tests (set up with ManualTest or in Robot, respectively).
Tests stored in a project held on the local disk of the machine run fine (when added to a Test Plan in TM and run, either ManualTest or Robot gets launched, the test is executed and TM displays the results page).
But tests held in (an otherwise identical) project on a network drive don't run. TM shows the message window (checking suite, 0 errors, etc) and then appears to stall at "Initializing". Forever, as best as I can tell. This happens for both manual and automated tests. I tried with UNC and non-UNC paths, and on alternative network drives. It always does the same thing.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? The client's using v2002.05.00 I think, my chances of persuading them to upgrade without a well-backed-up reason (so kneejerk "have you tried upgrading?" responses won't get me anywhere ) are likely slim.
Re: TM: problem with local/network datastore
I've discovered that this is most likely because using the network drives involves a Samba share to access a unix fileserver.
Rational don't support the use of Samba - datastores need to be on a Windows share or server instead. The client's looking at setting one up for their datastore.
Just updating in case there's a chance this information could help someone else!
