I was wondering if anyone has a tool (or maybe some VBA code) for parsing the xml exported result files (.rtpar) into a relatively clean format on an Excel speadsheet. I am basically interested in generating reports based on the test result files that will summarize the test runs. Unless I am missing something (which I may be), I could not find any reporting capabilities within TestManager to generate a basic report.
Rational will tell you that the "right" answer is to develop your own reports using SoDA or Crystal Reports. I only know 1 person who is good enough with SoDA to actually do that. From what I understand "It really isn't hard once you figure it out the first time, but figuring it out the first time is <cough, cough> not simple."
I don't know of anyone who has written that parser, but that is probably your only real option other than SoDA.
The xml format seams quite simple, I think a good xsl (style sheet) will change it into something excell can read (try exproting an excell file to xml sometime, that format is kind of simple too. Follows the VBA object model pretty well)
Another option is in the last tab (I think it is called reports or results) There seamed to be a bunch of reports that dump out. The format is stuck untill you get crystal reports installed, but they worked for us.
